Operation Backpack

Operation BackpackAll kids deserve a great start to a new school year, and part of that is having the supplies that they need. Some parents have to struggle to supply their children with all the things needed for a new school year, and that’s where Operation Backpack comes in to help.

Every year volunteers and local businesses get together to put together backpacks full of supplies for local school children. Each backpack is stuffed with all kinds of school supplies, things like binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, scissors, and more.

This year the local version of the event went down at, and was sponsored by, DCH Gardena Honda. The kids started lining up to get their new backpacks hours before the scheduled start at noon, while DCH employees and volunteers stuffed the supplies into each backpack.

The dealership also provided refreshments for the kids and volunteers… hot dogs, chips, and bottled water. It was great fun all around, and everyone involved got something valuable… the kids got the backpacks and supplies, and the volunteers got the satisfaction of knowing that they helped children in need.
